Biography
Dr. Bita Esmaeli is an internationally recognized ophthalmic plastic and orbital surgeon, ophthalmic oncologist, and clinician-scientist. She served as a tenured Professor and ASOPRS Fellowship Program Director at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 1998 to 2024 and currently serves as Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Houston Methodist Hospital and Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Dr. Esmaeli has authored more than 350 peer-reviewed publications, with over 53,000 citations and an H-index of 83. Her contributions have been recognized with numerous national and international honors, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology Lifetime Achievement Award, and she is widely recognized for her dedication to clinical innovation, research, education, and mentorship.
