Dr Wong is a vitreoretinal surgeon with an international reputation in paediatric retinal surgery. He is the Head of the first and only UK national centre for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) retinal detachment at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in London. Under his leadership since 2014, the centre has been providing ROP surgery care for the entire UK population, with him as the senior surgeon. He has published extensively in VR surgery, ranking number 1 in the UK in 2024. Journals include The Lancet, the highest impact factor journal in medicine.
