Biography

Prof. Ihab Saad Othman, MD, FRCS is Professor of Ophthalmology at Kasr Al-Ainie University Hospital, Cairo University, Founder and Chairman of EyeWorld Hospital and TopCare Hospital, Vice President of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO), and Ambassador of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) for the Middle East and Africa. Following fellowships in France, Wills Eye Hospital, and the University of Virginia, Prof. Othman returned to Egypt in 2000, where he established the country’s first Ophthalmic Oncology Centre and introduced several landmark advances, including Ruthenium-106 brachytherapy for eye cancer, ex-vivo expanded stem cell transplantation, and the Boston Keratoprosthesis Type I. Prof. Othman is internationally recognized for his contributions to ophthalmic oncology, vitreoretinal surgery, education, and research. He has dedicated his career to training ophthalmologists through internationally accredited fellowship programs and continues to advance ophthalmic care, education, and community service in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.
